He never really wanted to become a DJ, yet somehow he slipped into it - countless hours spent inBerlin bars and clubs; putting together a CD for friends here, meeting a resident DJ there. That’show, in 2004, he got swept into the rising electronic music scene of the capital, lured behind a DJbooth with free drinks. Today, more than two decades and over 150 played venues in Berlin later,Hannes looks back on a diverse DJ career. His main project, which has blossomed throughdedication and ambition, shapes him musically as intensely as his alter ego Cotumo, with whom hefeels right at home in the club of Sisyphos. Cotumo’s set during the re-opening at Hammahalleseems to have stuck in people’s minds. It shows a deep sensitivity for combining technoid soundswith emotion, allowing the audience to become part of the experience. He proves that this can alsoreach a wide audience with a slower groove, as he demonstrates each year at the Nation ofGondwana Festival, where he’s the resident responsible for closing the Seebuhne stage.
